France travel, immigration and PR

France layers Schengen tourism, the VLS-TS long-stay visa and the Talent Passport. PR and nationality follow years and assimilation — not a passport-for-investment product.

Who this handbook is for

For Schengen trips, study in French, intra-company moves, and Talent Passport salary or founder tracks.

How to visit, and for how long

Schengen 90/180. Visa-exempt passports face ETIAS / EES on the EU timetable. If France is the main destination, Chinese passports file a Schengen visa with France. Short-stay visas have no work right.

How to work or reside

Long stays are usually VLS-TS, validated with OFII after arrival. The Talent Passport covers well-paid employees, researchers, founders and artists. Ordinary employees need labour-market steps. Graduates may obtain a job-search / business residence.

PR and citizenship

A resident card often follows about five years of lawful stay, tax and integration. Naturalisation is often around five years (shorter for some study or spouses), with French and an assimilation interview. Investor residence is not a fast passport.

Time to PR:Usually after 5 years’ lawful stay
