À qui s’adresse ce guide

For engineers, IT, health and researchers, and Blue Card holders lining up 21- or 27-month settlement.

Visiter et durée de séjour

Schengen short stay is 90 days in any 180. Visa-exempt passports use EES; ETIAS follows the EU timetable. Chinese passports usually need a type-C visa from the main destination. Short stays are not work permission.

Travail et résidence

The EU Blue Card is for graduates with a salary floor; ordinary employment residence needs a contract and often labour-office clearance. The Opportunity Card is points-based job-seeking. Graduates get a job-search buffer. Family reunion needs housing and language.

Résidence permanente et nationalité

Blue Card holders can often settle after about 27 months with A1 German or 21 with B1; ordinary employment is commonly five years. Recent nationality reforms shortened some clocks, still with language, livelihood and integration. Confirm with BAMF and the Ausländerbehörde.

Time to PR:Blue Card about 21–27 months; others often 3–5 years
